Two Important 'HILLARY FRONTS'

The Denver Group + WomenCount PAC

The Denver Group: Making Sure Hillary Voters
are Respected at Democratic Convention

The Denver Group is a pro-Hillary group that was formed to ensure that the Democratic Party respect and carry out the democratic process at the convention in Denver in August. Through ads and lobbying, it aimed to ensure that the Democratic National Committee gave Hillary Clinton her due and that it respected the interests of Hillary’s 18 million voters!

Its goals were:

WomenCount PAC:
Stepping Up for Hillary Voters

WomenCount founders include Susie Tompkins Buell, a co-founder of the Esprit clothing line, and Allida Black, editor of The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers at George Washington University.

The committee put out an appeal to help fund full-page newspaper ads in support of Hillary’s campaign. Within 48 hours, more than $170,000 came in from women all around the country.

A second ad began, "We spoke loud and clear in Florida and Michigan, and our voices must be heard!"

>See the actual ads:

WomenCount page

"Not so fast ..." said a full-page ad this past May in several newspapers. "Hillary’s voice is OUR voice, and she’s speaking for all of us."

This eloquent ad was sponsored by WomenCount PAC, a political action committee launched by several leading supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Ads ran in USA Today, the New York Times, and in regional papers in KY and OR. More info on the WomenCount web site.

The WomenCount ads spoke for many, many of us.
Here is the first one, in its entirety.

Not So Fast…
Hillary’s Voice is OUR Voice,
And She’s Speaking for All of Us

We are the women of this nation. We are rich and poor, young and old, married with kids, married without kids, single moms, gay, straight, and widowed. We are every color. We are of every religion. We are from all political parties.

We love our country. Now more than ever, so much of what we cherish is at risk … our homes and our health, our safety and our planet, our children and our values. We raise our voices, in one glorious, defiant chorus, to tell the world that these times demand strength, courage and vision.

And that is why we stand united in our unwavering support for Hillary Clinton.

As Senator Clinton campaigns, she speaks with our voice. She carries our hopes, dreams and aspirations with her and transforms them into policies that can make our nation great again.

We know that Hillary will not rest until every American has health insurance, every child can start school ready to learn, every young person has a chance to attend college, every worker will have a safe job at decent wages. She will not rest until our men and women in the military receive the care they deserve and America foreign policy is grounded in human rights and military strength.

We know this because we have seen her do this -- at home and around the world.

We cannot stand by as a cacophony of voices demand that she step aside to smooth the road for another.

Women risked all they held dear to make this country great. They put their lives on the line in all our quests for justice … from Abigail Adams to Sojourner Truth to Susan B. Anthony to Eleanor Roosevelt to Fannie Lou Hamer to Barbara Jordan to Dolores Huerta to Hillary.

We know that when women vote, Democrats win. Now it is the responsibility of our party to hear our voices and count all our votes.

We want Hillary to stay in this race until every vote is cast, every vote is counted, and we are convinced our voices are heard.

More Smart Women for Hillary Resources Coming Soon …
Check Back Often to See What’s New

Thank you again for visiting Smart Women for Hillary!

Most of all, thank you for being part of the tidal wave of support for Hillary. Clearly there are many millions of us strongly convinced that she was the best and strongest candidate in the 2008 presidential race … and our best hope to beat John McCain in November.

NOTE: Even now that Hillary has been knocked out of the race, it is still clear that she would be a stronger candidate who would have an easier time winning. New polls confirm this! We hoped that superdelegates would come to their senses at the Democratic National Convention in August and vote for Hillary—but that did not happen.

Regardless, there’s not a chance we will vote for the pro-war, pro-gun, anti-choice John McCain. We passionately believe that no Hillary supporter should even consider actively backing a candidate whose record on issues of concern to women is as appalling as McCain’s is. (Picture a far-right Supreme Court!)
