More about WomenCount

WomenCount is continuing as a voice for progressive women in politics. A "relaunch" took place August 26, 2008, at the Democratic National Convention — with Hillary Clinton herself in attendance!
Visit the WomenCount web site.

Excerpt from a WomenCount e-mail sent after the official "relaunch" of WomenCount at the Democratic National Convention in August 2008:

"Today was another blockbuster. Yes, yes, there was Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Joe Biden and of course Barack Obama. But it was another man who really made our day.

It was a young man named Kevin who attended the WomenCount blogger briefing. Towards the end of a great discussion with bloggers from across the country about WomenCount, the issues facing women, and the effects of Hillary Clinton’s campaign on the perception of sexism in America, Kevin spoke up: “You know during the election, there were those Hillary nutcrackers, and Hillary urinal stickers? I was just disgusted by that. And it wasn’t until this discussion today that I understood the scope of these issues. We need men of my generation, who are responsible for a lot of these things to fight sexism, too. I want to be part of WomenCount.”

Goosebumps!

Because the fight against sexism and for women *will* take all of us—men and women, young and old. WomenCount isn’t a women’s organization in the usual sense, and it can’t be just women. It has to be all of us."

Excerpt from a WomenCount e-mail sent after the first pro-Hillary ad ran in the New York Times in May 2008:

"It’s been another HUGE day for WomenCount PAC and the work we’re doing for Hillary and her supporters around the country. … The response has been enormous. … It’s all over the web and print press and the calls are still coming in.

All of which ONCE AGAIN underscores the passion, the strength, and the sheer force of the voices of women all around the country. Now, WE MUST NOT REST. We must continue to spread our message that every vote must be cast, and every vote must be counted before this race is over."

Please support Hillary!

"Not So Fast"

WomenCount Political Action Committee>A Powerful Front in Support of Hillary

The WomenCount PAC was formed in May 2008 by several leading supporters of Hillary Clinton, in response to the blatant "Hillary hostility" of the media and Democratic Party ... from biased and sexist media coverage to relentless bullying of Clinton (the winner of 18 million votes! 23 primaries! 1920 delegates!) to get out of the race. The committee ran national and regional newspaper ads standing up for Hillary (below). At the Democratic National Convention, the group was official "relaunched"—with Hillary Clinton in attendance—as an advocacy group for a progressive and pro-women politics.
Specifically, WomenCount will "ensure that the 51 percent of American citizens who are women have their values and votes counted in the political process." Learn more on the WomenCount PAC web site: www.womencountpac.com

WomenCount Ads

The WomenCount PAC created two powerful full-page newspaper ads supporting Hillary.
Read the complete text of the first ad (and learn more about the WomenCount PAC) on our Links & More page.

To get an idea of the visual impact of these important advertisements, take a look at the ads as they appeared this month in newspapers including the New York Times and USA Today (plus several regional newspapers):
